Food Security Platform

Signaling risk to imports and supply

The company was hired to design and execute an Early Food Security Warning Platform for a sovereign nation. The concept is to provide early signals about risk to supply and food sources for this nation’s imports.

This was a company-wide initiative to secure a significant client. We needed to map out everything clearly and concisely to properly delegate tasks and stay on track for milestone delivery. A roadmap was crafted between myself and other departmental leads to create this bespoke web-application that would indicate food security risks for the client's top imports.

PRODUCT DESIGN, DESIGN SYSTEM

2023-24

Collaboration time

Use Cases, sketches, wireframes and collaborative learning sessions with analysts led to the creation of initial showcase designs used in the sales cycle. All of which was rapidly ideated alongside analysts, product managers, other designers and engineers. We also took the opportunity to redesign some of core components, such as the data visualization container component, to secure more scalable solutions across all products.

Creating order out of chaos

We arrived at a three paned dashboard layout with several card based components that are reiterated at different but relative layouts for different view-widths. This is meant to offer the user as much visual order and cohesion as possible. The shear amount of data that is being presented with every feature would be overwhelming even to the most adept users. Giving proper space and employing effective information hierarchy will decrease the potential for information overload.
